Get Involved: Volunteering + Internships

Resource Renewal Institute is always in need of volunteers and interns.

Volunteers usually help with general office tasks and provide assistance at RRI events. We value volunteers of all skill levels and experiences. While we don't have a formal minimum requirement for volunteers to commit to helping RRI, we ask that volunteers try and commit to more than one session so that volunteers can learn our systems and get to know our staff. To learn about volunteer opportunities, please call 415-928-3774 or send an email to info@rri.org

Interns generally work on larger projects of greater responsibility that require a basic understanding of environmental issues. Resource Renewal Institute generally works with interns and prospective interns to find a project that is both beneficial to RRI and the intern's personal and educational development. We especially appreciate people with some knowledge and interest in history, good writing skills, and some breadth of reading.

The nature of internships at RRI are determined by the availability, experience, and interest of the intern and the needs of the Resource Renewal Institute. Because bringing an intern up to speed requires significant RRI staff time, RRI does require that interns commit to several months with the organization. RRI has had successful interns that were recent high school graduates, college students, career switchers, and graduate students. We encourage anyone interested in interning with RRI to first send a current resume to info@rri.org and set up a time to talk in person or over the telephone about internship possibilities.
